Estella Marteen Buchanan, 91, of Hanson, KY

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Estella Marteen Buchanan, 91, of Hanson, KY passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

She was born on July 8, 1922 in Manitou, KY to the late Uel and Bessie Mangum. She married Forrest E. Buchanan on October 29, 1966. They were married twenty-eight years before his death on April 9, 1994. She loved her church, gardening, walking, her cats and just being outdoors. She attended Hanson Baptist Church in Hanson.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Charlie Mangum.

She is survived by her step-son and caregiver Larry Joe Buchanan of Hanson; step-children, Betty Rich of Tucson, AZ, John Buchanan of Owensboro, KY, Kenneth Buchanan of Madisonville, Donna Alexander of Globe, AZ and Donald Buchanan of Hanson; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. Tom Branson officiating. Burial to follow in West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Brian Buchanan, Josh Buchanan, Cody Buchanan, John Michael Buchanan, Donald Buchanan and Jason Oakley. Honorary pallbearer will be Mark Masterson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
