Rev. Haynes (Tom) Wilson, 86 of Benton, KY

BENTON, Ky. - Rev. Haynes (Tom) Wilson, 86 of Benton, KY., went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 6:15 p.m. at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY.

Born Wednesday, January 5, 1927 in New Concord, KY, he was the son of the late Otis Wilson and the late Mary (Haynes) Wilson. He honorably served his country during World War II in the U. S. Navy and then in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his tour of duty, he began a career working as a water department technician for the City of Pontiac, MI., during this time he was ordained serving Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior as an evangelist for over 44 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbertsville, KY.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty (Colson) Wilson of Benton, KY., two sons, Rev. Brian Matthew Wilson, wife Candy of Benton, KY and Barry W. Wilson, wife Marianne of French Lick, IN., one brother, Christopher Coltrane of Mancelona, MI, one sister, Peggy Richards, husband Jim of Oxford, MI., four grandchildren; Jackie Edwards of Anna, IL., Aaron Hurst, wife Kacy of Hazel, KY., Mary Elizabeth Hurst of Saudi Arabia., Joshua James Henry Wilson of Perth, Western Australia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Mark Thomas Wilson, and one sister, Lola Mae Rivers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Rev. Bruce Huff and Rev. Brian Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow the service in the Old Salem Cemetery, Murray, KY.

Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Monday, September 23, 2013, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.

The family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 6026 U.S. Hwy 641 Gilbertsville, KY 42044.
