BENTON, Ky. - Joseph 'Joe' A. Armiger, Jr., age 71 of Benton, Ky passed away Wednesday, October 9th from a truck accident in Graves County.
Mr. Armiger is survived by his wife, Linda Vasseur Armiger, a brother John W. Armiger and wife Connie, Orlando, FL, five daughters: Joanne Armiger and Eric DeRoche, Paula Knochenhauer and husband David Glendale, AZ; Peggy Worthen and husband Jeff, Mesa, AZ, Patti Mitchell, Peoria, AZ, Paula Dennison and husband David, Benton, KY, one son, Brad E. Darnell and wife Tara, Gilbertsville, KY, fourteen grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Armiger Sr. and wife Tillie and one infant son, John Joseph Armiger.
Joe was born and grew up in Baltimore, MD where he graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, and was a veteran in the U.S. Army. He was a design engineer, self-contracting for Kohler Industries in Union City, TN; working previously for Westinghouse, Motorola, and NASA. He has resided in Marshall County for the past nineteen years, a member and Sr. Warden for St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Benton, KY, vice commander for American Legion Post 236, Calvert City, KY, and the Honor Guard. He worked many hours devoting time to the veterans and many fundraiser projects. If you were in Draffenville on Veterans Day, most assuredly you would find Joe selling poppies with the Honor Guard. He will be sadly missed by all.
Services will be Monday, October 14th at 11:00 AM, visitation on Sunday, October 13th from 5 to 8 PM with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery on Lakeview Church Road with full military rites provided by the American Legion Post 236 Honor Guard. Collier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
