LEXINGTON, Ky. - James Thomas (Mitch) Mitchell, 79, husband of the late Alice Coleman Mitchell, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013. A retired restaurant equipment salesman and Lexington native, he was the son of the late Joseph Gay and Mary Meehan Mitchell.
He was a graduate of Lexington Catholic High School Class of 1952, a US Army veteran and a member of Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Surviving are his children, Tim (Tammy) Mitchell, Lexington, Jeannie (Mike) McVey, Lexington, Mary (Billy Wilder) Schafer, Lexington, Michelle (Tony Goins) Wysocki, Versailles and Theresa (Dale) Pyatt, Richmond; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Mitchell; a sister, Patricia Rand, Lexington; 11 grandchildren, Rachael and Phillip Wysocki, Justin, Jared and Jenna Pyatt, Chris and Alicia Mitchell, Allison Schafer, Amanda and Matthew “Blake” Mitchell and Macey McVey, numerous and nieces and nephews and a loving companion, Sue Rose.
Preceding him in death were his sons, Thomas Anthony Mitchell, James Mitchell and Matthew Mitchell.

Funeral mass will be conducted at 1 pm Saturday at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary with interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 pm Friday at Milward-Southland.
