Vernon T. Jackson, 90

obit11LEXINGTON, Ky. - Vernon T. Jackson, 90, beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Stewart, passed away on July 26, 2013. Vernon was a native of Barbourbille, KY, the son of the late Oscar G. Jackson and Julia Beams Jackson.

He had one sister, Flora Lynn (Brothers) Jackson, deceased, and twin brother Vance Ellison Jackson, deceased. Vernon is survived by Mark (Mary Jane) Jackson, OH, Michael (Lois) Jackson, SC, Kirk (Brenda) Jackson, Lexington, Ann Jackson (Steve) Furtado, CA, Julie Jackson (Steve) Morgan, Midway, Jean Jackson (Bud) Kelemenic, Lexington, Patrick Jackson, Lexington, Neal Jackson, Frankfort, Bruce Jackson, deceased, fifteen grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

He is a retired architect and designed in numerous firms in Lexington, and a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. He was an Honorary Life Member of the USAF Air Defense Team, a founding member of the Brian Station Muzzle Loaders Club, the Meadowthorpe Neighborhood Assoc., The Knights of Columbus, Asst. Scout Master of Troop 44, Saint Paul’s, and a three time Gold Medal winner muzzle loaders division in the Bluegrass State Games.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Tues at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, Lexington, KY. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chip Kelly, Alex Morgan, Neal Miller, Aaron Gillbride, Jason Newkirk, and Jason Sharp. A honorary pallbearer will be Todd Jackson. A visitation will be held Mon from 5-8pm at Kerr brothers Funeral Home – Harrodsburg Rd. Lexington, KY. In lieu of flowers the family request honoring Vernon’s love of the Bluegrass State Games and Muzzle Loaders. Please send donations to Blue Grass State Games: Attn. Vernon T.
