LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kevin Terry Phillips, 64, of Lexington, Ky husband of Linda Lee Cairnes Phillips, passed away November 1, 2013. He was born on October 25, 1949, the son of the late Roger and Josephine Lorang Phillips. He retired from UK where he worked as a Bio Technician in Clinical Engineering. Kevin enjoyed bible study fellowship, Bill Glass Ministries, prison ministry, hiking, bicycling, traveling, cooking and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a volunteer tour guide at the Henry Clay House.
Kevin’s smile, sense of humor and gentle demeanor brightened everyone’s day. If there was ever someone to model your life after, it was Kevin. He was loved by all who knew him. Kevin was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War from December 2, 1969 to November 9, 1970, and was a volunteer at the VA Medical Center. He was a member of Athens Christian Church.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Edward (Rebecca) Phillips, Portland, OR and Todd (Treacy) Phillips, Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Randy Phillips, Rick Phillips, Steve Phillips, Tim Phillips and Scott Phillips; sisters, Kathy Phillips, Patty Jump, Deb Allen, Gail Fencl, Ruth Roths, Ronda Moody and Nancy Post; four grandchildren, Henri, Addie, Josh and Tierney Phillips; 40 nieces and nephews; and his constant companion, Baxter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Phillips and a sister, Mary Jo Phillips.
A celebration of his life will be at 11 AM Friday at Milward – Man O’ War, 1509 Trent Blvd. with a reception to follow. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military rites on Friday at 2:30 PM.
