LEXINGTON, Ky. - Nancy F. Cantrell, 72, wife of the late Minister Gerald Cantrell, passed away Thurs. Dec. 5, 2013 at the University of Ky Hospital. Born Sept. 26, 1941 in Columbus, OH, she was the daughter of the late Orin K. and Helen F. Schumacher Hastilow. Mrs. Cantrell was a graduate of Capital University in Bexley, OH, where she was a member of the Chapel Choir. She was an elementary music teacher with Fayette County Schools until her retirement. She also served at various churches as a choir director and church organist. Mrs. Cantrell was member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Lions Club. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teacher Sorority, Alpha Episilon Chapter. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a son, James C. Cantrell (special friend, Stacey Stacy) Lexington, Ky; daughter, Jennifer A. Hopkins (Tony), Columbus, OH; grandsons, James A. and Timothy D. Cantrell; granddaughter, Alexandra N. Hopkins; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Minke; a sister, Jane K. Stehle (Tim); and a sister-in-law, Bernadine Cantrell.
She is also survived by nephews, Mark Cantrell and Jeff (Laurel) Cantrell; and nieces, Sheri McGee (Mike) and Laura Matney (Brandon). She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Floyd W. Cantrell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tues. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1000 Tates Creek Rd., Lexington, Ky by Pastor Andy Rutrough.
Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Mon at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. and 10 am Tues. until the service time at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to ELCA World Hunger Program, P.O. Box 71764, Chicago, IL 60694-1764.
