PADUCAH, Ky. - Robert Joseph Marty, age 89, of Paducah, KY went home to be with the Lord at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 from Lourdes Hospital.
Mr. Marty was born on October 2, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, where he married Barbara Stouffer in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the Air Transport Command Stateside and the European Theatre in the Azore Islands.
He worked for Cuneo Press in Chicago, transferring to their Kokomo, Indiana Division where he became Director of Manufacturing. When this plant was absorbed by world Color Press in 1976, he was transferred to Effingham where he completed 43 years in the printing industry, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. While in Effingham, Illinois, he was a member of the St. Anthony Church.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 120, Elks Lodge 1020, The Effingham Sportsbackers, and an avid sports fan.
Mr. Marty is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara, 2 daughters, Tina Marie Eggemeyer and her husband, Rich, of Paducah, and Bonnie Martoccio, of Glendale Heights, Illinois, one sister, Tina Connolly, of Chicago, Illinois, and 7 loving and beloved grandchildren, Morgan Eggemeyer, Alexis Eggemeyer, Nicholas Eggemeyer, and Joseph Eggemeyer, all of Paducah, Cheryl Swanson, and her husband, John, and their children, Jonathon Swanson and Ava Swanson, of Carol Stream, Illinois, Margaret DiSantis and her daughter, Lucianna of Bloomdale, Illinois, and Joseph DiSantis and his wife Misty and their daughter, Gia, of Houston, Texas, and two cousins, Dale Conoset and her husband, Peter, of Romeoville, Illinois, and John Martoccio, and his wife Lee, of Willow Springs, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Marty Jr.
A memorial graveside service will be conducted at a later date at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
