PADUCAH, Ky. - Rebecca Ann Massey,62, of Loudon, TN and formerly of Paducah, KY passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Ft. Loudon Medical Center. Rebecca was a member of Tellico Village Community Church Loudon, TN. She enjoyed Women’s Bible Study Group and gardening her plants and flowers. She loved buying and sending gifts to her grandchildren, talking on the phone to them and especially visits to their home. She especially enjoyed her Tecumseh Lane neighborhood friends and their frequent get-togethers for food and fun.
Rebecca was a 1968 graduate of Heath High School. She also attended Paducah Community College, received her BS degree from University of Missouri in St. Louis and her master’s degree in Education from Murray State University. She retired in 2000 from McCracken County School system where she spent 28 years at Concord Elementary School. After moving to Loudon, TN she taught five years at Highland Park Elementary School in Lenoir City, TN.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jimmy Massey.
She was the loving mother of two sons; Josh Massey and wife, Melissa, of Barre, VT, and Zach Massey and wife, Jessica, of Bowling Green, KY. She was a doting Grandmother “Beckadee” to five grandchildren; Eden, Ja and Marijane Massey of Barre, VT, and Caleb and Mila Massey of Bowling Green, KY. Also surviving are her mother, Mary Slusmeyer of Paducah, one sister, Kay Sutton and one brother, Clay Slusmeyer and partner Michelle Tynes; brother-in-law, David Massey and wife Sandy of Paducah, KY; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her father, Ralph Slusmeyer.
Private memorial services were held Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tommy Tucker officiating.
Family requests that memorial contributions be made to her favorite charity, American Cancer Society, 3140 Parisa Drive, Paducah, KY 42003.
