Opal Dodd, 85, of Paducah, Ky

PADUCAH, Ky. - Opal Dodd, 85, of Paducah, Ky passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 7:30 a.m. at her residence. Opal was a member of Salt & Light Community Church of God. She was a native of Winston County, AL and retired from Paducah City Schools working in the Food Service and served as manager of D.T. Cooper Elementary School. She enjoyed crocheting for the children’s ministry at her church and had a keen interest in children and talking to them. She was also a retired beautician.

Survivors include one daughter, Gwenda Alexander and husband, Larry; two sons, Max Dodd and wife, Brenda, Mark Dodd and wife, Brenda all of Paducah, Ky; five grandchildren, Tony Dodd and wife, Tina of Calvert City, Ky, Alissa Gannaway and husband Rob of Loveland, OH, Dena Alexander of Paducah, Ky, Carrie Alexander of Mt. Juliet, TN and Daniel Dodd and wife, Gabrielle of Paducah, Ky; four great-grandchildren, Libby Dodd, Molly Gannaway, Brad Long and wife Christina, Johnathan Long and wife, Britney.

Mrs. Dodd was preceded in death by her husband, Veno Curtis Dodd; her parents, Harvey Cummings and Nellie Stout Cummings Barnett and her step-father, Riley Barnett.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Glover officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
