MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. - Levetha Elizabeth Ellis Rickard, 94 years old, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 10:15PM at Ridgewood Terrace Health and Rehabilitation Center in Madisonville, KY.
She was born in Sacramento, KY on December 11, 1918 to Ora and Osa Ellis, the oldest of three daughters. She was an active, long time member of Towers Chapel Methodist Church in Sacramento. She loved and enjoyed her children and all of her many grandchildren so much. She was the youngest to ever graduate from Sacramento, at the age of 16 years old, where she played basketball. She enjoyed telling about her basketball days at Sacramento. She was a wonderful Christian woman who worked and provided for her three children at Enro Shirt Company, in Madisonville, in which she retired after 25 years to care for her parents for the following 20 years. She loved to square dance and travel with her friends. She loved caring for her flower and vegetable gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Ellis Mauzy, a great grandson, Tyler Hardison, a brother-in-law, Russell Bell, and a son-in-law, Edward Bidwell.
She is survived by three children, a son, Doug and his wife, Mary Lou, of Sacramento, a daughter, Darlene Bidwell Hoagland and her husband, Buddy, a daughter, Margaretta Pywell and her husband, Bob, of Sacramento, a sister, Leora Ellis Bell of Rumsey, and a brother-in-law, Leroy Mauzy. She was also survived by 10 grandchildren: Ellanee Lancaster (Wayne), Tammy Sherrod (Brent), Mark Rickard (Sherry), Mike Rickard (Terri), Robert Rickard (Ladonna), Shannon Foreman (Maurice), Shane Rickard, Shamra Doyle, Tahnee Saucedo (Joe), Lucian Jordan (Victor); 17 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00AM at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with Rev. Wendell Wood officiating. Burial in Free Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
