Etta Levon Joines, 88, of Greenville, Ky

ettaGREENVILLE, Ky (1/11/14) — Etta Levon Joines, 88, of Greenville, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at Belle Meade Home in Greenville. Etta was born March 14,1925 in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of Martin Ephraim Miller and Georgia Sue Vincent Miller. She was married in 1946 to E.G. (Mutt) Joines and to this union two children were born, Judy in 1947, and Beckye in 1952.

Etta worked at General Electric in her youth, worked at many restaurants and stores, and was a companion-sitter for several people. Etta (Granny) was a great fan of baseball and basketball, especially the U.K. Wildcats. She was a life- long member of Carter Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mutt Joines, and two sisters: Mary Frances Jernigan and Virginia Belle Miller. She was also preceded in death by six brothers: Andy Miller, Dake Miller, Daniel Miller, Cairl Miller, Hubert Miller, and Peaney Miller.

Etta is survived by two daughters: Judy (Joe) Clark of Georgetown, and Beckye (Carl) Veazey of Hanson. She is also survived by a brother, William Owen (Bill) Miller, of Trumann, Arkansas.

Other survivors include five grandchildren: Shane(Sherri) Clark, Shawn(Jessie) Clark, Sarah(Kerry) Jeter, Emily Veazey, and Justin Veazey. Surviving great-grandchildren are Shelby Clark, Jacob Clark, Hannah Clark, Hope Clark, Noah Clark, Emma Clark, Abby Jeter, and Luke Jeter.

Pallbearers will be Alan Tooley, Garrick Williams, Kerry Jeter, Jacob Clark, Jeremy Hayes, and Noah Clark.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Benningfield and Mike Roll.

Services will be at 2 P.M. Monday, January 13, at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville with Etta's grandsons, Shane and Shawn Clark officiating, assisted by Brother Tommy Wilhite. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour Monday, with burial following in Carter Creek Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to The Activities Department, Belle Meade Home, 521 Greene Street, Greenville, Ky. 42345 and to the Carter Creek Cemetery Fund, 225 Carter Creek Road, Greenville, Ky. 42345. Online condolences to the family can be made at www.garysfuneralhome.net.
