MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. - Bishop Arnold Floyd Harper, 78, of Central City, Ky died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 6:35 a.m. at his home. Mr. Harper was born June 1, 1935 in Mississippi Co., MO. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a retired pastor of 46 years in Missouri and Ky. He served as pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy in Central City for 26 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and outdoor activities. He was a bonded locksmith. He enjoyed reading, especially the Bible. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lalas Sr. and Hazel Harper; brothers Lalas (Jr.), Harold, and Charles Harper; and sister Linda Owen.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Hust Harper; son Dr. Tim (Karen) Harper of Charlestown, IN; daughters Sarah (John) Roarke of Bremen and Sharmin (Doug) Lush of Cecilia, Ky; grandchildren Derek (Jennifer) Roarke, Cameron (Cheyenne) Roarke, Brittany (Stephen) Stone, Chandler Harper, Stetson Harper, Austin Atterberry, and Landon Atterberry; great-grandchild Harper Roarke; brother Lloyd Harper of Morganfield; sister Sharon Rogers of Morganfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Church of God of Prophecy in Central City, with Dr. Tim Harper officiating, assisted by Pastor Carolyn Erwin and Bishop Scott Gillum. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday after 2:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.
