gfhIMAGE1MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. — Joseph Wayne “J.W.” Harper, 86, of Drakesboro, Ky. passed away on July 5, 2014 at 10:43 a.m. in the Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – Maple in Greenville, Ky. following a lengthy illness. He was born on August 28, 1927 in Muhlenberg County the son of Clifton Perry Harper and Iva Mae Harper. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Tennessee Valley Authority. He loved University of Kentucky basketball, fishing, hunting and especially his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles “Lindy” Harper and sister, Rebecca Sue Coombs.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. from Gary’s Funeral Home Greenville, Ky. by Reverend Robert Lindsay, burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, Ky.

He is survived by two sisters, Betty Wright of Greenville, Ky. and Wanda Johnson of Chandler, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; and special family, Alan Orange of Drakesboro, Ky., Debbie Wint of Browder, Ky., Bud Orange of Browder, Ky., Tammy Allen of Drakesboro, Ky.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 after 10:00 a.m. and until service time at 12:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, Ky.
