GRAHAM, Ky. — Charles V. Chaney, 87, of Graham, Ky. passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 6:15 a.m. at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on February 3, 1927 in Greenville, Ky. He was a member of Corley Chapel General Baptist Church and an Army Veteran of World War II after being stationed in Germany. He retired in 1984 as a UMWA coal miner after over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Volla Thomas Chaney; mother, Hazel Dale Matheney Chaney; wife of 65 years, Pauline Caskey Chaney in 2009; son, Eddie Brent Chaney; and grandson, William Jarrod Sparks.
He is survived by three children, Charles W. (Judy) Chaney of Graham, Ky., Shelia Sparks of Greenville, Ky. and Paula (Mike) Harkins of Graham, Ky.; five grandchildren, Dr. Brian Chaney, Jamie Sparks, Kara Erickson, Andy Harkins, and Charles “Chucky” Chaney; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Winnie Gossett of Graham, Ky. and Barbara Chaney of Graham, Ky.; one brother, Bobby L. Chaney of Henderson, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, Ky. by Reverend John Culbertson. Burial will follow in the Corley Chapel Cemetery in Graham, Ky.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
