Sara (Sue) Cozell Rice White Myers, 95, of Bowling Green, Ky

obit6BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Sara (Sue) Cozell Rice White Myers, 95, of Bowling Green, Ky passed away at 6:43 a.m. July 10, 2013, at the Greenview Regional Hospital.

She was born May 30, 1918, in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., and raised in Lafayette, Tenn. She was the daughter of Rufus and Almeda Snow Rice. She moved to Bowling Green in 1942, and her first job was in a restaurant on the Western Ky University campus. Sue later met Alvin William White and married him on May 29, 1942. She received Christ in that same year. Later Sue and Alvin became guardians of her two nieces, Edith and Gail Linville. The family started attending the First Church of the Nazarene in Bowling Green. Sue worked at the Kinred Factory during the war years making components for the Army. After that factory closed, she went to work at Holley Carburetor, where she retired after 31 years. It is during this time that Alvin became very ill and passed away in 1968. She also worked for Woodworkers of America, retiring after 10 years. In 1971, Sue married Mallory I. Myers, and he passed away in 1999.

She is survived by one sister, Dean Adams of Madison, Tenn.; her two nieces, Edith E. Miller and Gail Scales (Clyde) of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and one stepson, Mike Myers of Paducah. She is also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews and stepgrandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday under the ministry of Bro. Jerry Cline and Bro. Randy Gant at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel, with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
