BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Carole Jane Smock, 71, of Bowling Green, Ky passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hospice House of Southern Ky surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in White Hall, Illinois on February 23, 1942 to the late David Denton and Helen Louise Spangenberg Lorton. She was the bookkeeper for David and Christine Sowders. She was an avid volunteer in the community. She served as President of the Bowling Green Women's Club, past president or served on the boards of the following organizations: AARP Local Chapter, Networking Women Organization, Preceptor Alpha Epsilon Sorority, March of Dimes, Christian Women Bible Study, Houchens Center for Women Board Member and volunteered for several others groups in Warren County and Bowling Green.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years: Don 'Smokey' Smock of Bowling Green; son: Craig 'Shaggy' Smock of Bowling Green; daughter: Donetta Smock Hodges and her husband Jack of Bowling Green; two sisters: Pat Martin and husband Charlie of Jacksonville, Illinois and Kathy Dawdy and husband Ross of White Hall, Illinois; three grandchildren: Kara Hodges, Carter Smock, and Jackie Hodges; niece: Jamie; nephews: Jeff, Matthew, and Timothy; and several great nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel. Burial will be in the White Hall Cemetery in White Hall, Illinois on Saturday under the direction of the Airsman-Hires Funeral Chapel in White Hall, Illinois.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the following: Hospice House of Southern Ky or Bowling Green Women’s Club Scholarship fund at Western Ky University.
