This year’s event will take place Thursday, April 24 at 6 p.m. in the Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church Parish Hall, 514 East 4th Street.

This local event is part of a national grassroots movement to raise funds for those in need of food and to help end hunger.

Tickets are $15 and available at First Presbyterian Church and the Brescia University Public Relations Office.

Only 350 tickets will be available for this event, which sold out prior to the event last year when it was held at First Presbyterian Church.

Your ticket allows you to select a ceramic bowl from hundreds of handcrafted bowls made especially for this event by local artisans and students of Brescia University.

The bowls will be created by Brescia’s Art Department which will supply the clay, glaze, and location for each participant at the event. Participans will then use their selected bowl to receive one of four soups made by local chefs and churches.

Soup-makers this year:

  • First Presbyterian Church
  • The Journey Church
  • Kim Jagoe with Simple Path
  • The Campbell Club

Soup selections will be one vegan soup and three non-vegan.

Student volunteers from the Brescia Clay Club will wash your bowl for you when you are finished and it is yours to take home at the end of the evening.

Tickets may be purchased in advance by cash or check beginning March 4 through April 25 at the First Presbyterian Church Office (1328 Griffith Ave) or at the Brescia University Public Relations Office, located in office 207 (second floor) in the Lechner Graduate Center (311 West 7th Street). If all tickets are not presold, they will made available at the door. You are highly encouraged to purchase your ticket in advance.

Last year more than $6,600 was presented to Rushing Wind Church of God.

David Tucker, Rushing Wind Pastor, will give a presentation at this year’s event sharing how the funds were used to assist the church’s food pantry.
