gollfing-surfkyCHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (7/31/14) — Hopkinsville golfer Austin Knight pulled away to win the boys' 15-16 division of the Kentucky PGA Junior Tournament of Champions at Henry Clay Country Club Wednesday.

One of the state's top young golfers, Knight turned in a two-round 137 for 7-under par, exiting the tournament eight strokes out in front of second-place finishers Jacob Beverly and Michael Brown.

Several area golfers competed in the tournament. In the girls' open division, Madison Chaney of Cadiz finished second. Baylee Salyers, a golfer from Flatwoods, finished four strokes ahead of Chaney to claim the victory.

The Kentucky PGA Junior Tour presented by Wal-Mart wrapped up its summer schedule at the Henry County course.

The boys' open championship was awarded to Brandon Sanner of Shelbyville. After beginning the day two strokes back, Sanner shot a two round score of 153 to give him a four stroke victory over Corey Damron from Georgetown. In the boys' 17-18-year-old division, Avery Edwards from Paducah finished one under par through two rounds to claim the division’s top spot. The second place finish came down to a playoff as Colby White and Brad Smith each carded a 150 after 36 holes.

In the playoff, White defeated Smith after the second hole to finish second.
