OWENSBORO, Ky. (8/13/13) – Friday was the Apollo Eagle’s “media day” and the team had a nice buzz around them.
“I am excited to build on last year,” said Apollo Football Head Coach Dan Crume.
The Eagle football team has grown in numbers, with a total of 62 players this year. Most of them are freshman and sophomores, and there are only eight seniors on the team. Several of the players expressed their hunger to turn their football program around and end the so-called “2-9 curse.” To end the “curse,” they need strong leaders to help change the future of the program, and the seniors who spoke with SurfKY Friday said they are up to the task.
“We want to establish a brotherhood,” Adonis Hudson said.
Senior Brian Duvall said it’s going to take everyone coming together to make the program successful.
“The younger guys have to step up,” he said.
The season officially kicks off Friday, Aug. 23, when the Apollo Eagles take on Owensboro Catholic High School.
