dc panther fb1 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (8/23/13) – This Friday marks the first week for High School football, the Daviess County Panthers will be at home against the Owensboro Red Devils at 7 p.m.

Coach Marcus Kimbrell is excited about the team speed for the Panthers.

“This is fastest team we have had in my tenure,” he said.

Team speed is necessary against the Red Devils, who historically have been the fastest of all the local teams.

Kimbrell’s said his key points to this game include playing smart, special teams, and penalties. They must play their roles correctly on the special teams to contain the speed of the Red Devils. The third key is keeping the number of penalties down. Since DC is replacing all five members of the offensive line and three members of the defensive lineman, the Panthers must understand their matchups.

One player who is excited to play is Luke Bailey, the Senior Quarterback for the Panthers missed most of last year with an ACL tear. Bailey says he is 100 percent healed and ready to play.

“All city-county teams are circled on the schedule,” he said.
