OWENSBORO, Ky. (8/30/13) – Week 1 did not start the season off well for the Daviess County Panthers. They lost to the Owensboro Red Devils 42-24, and lost their Head Coach Marcus Kimbrell for the next three weeks after being ejected from the Aug. 23 game.
Coach Kimbrell was pleased with his team’s effort in the game.
“We competed and played hard. You cannot give a great team like Owensboro easy chances to score,” he said. He then pointed out that they made too many mistakes like blocked punts and big penalties, which let the Devils jump out to a big lead.
DC’s scheduled game for tonight doesn’t get any easier when they take on the Owensboro Catholic Aces. Kimbrell said the keys to the game for the Panthers are to be prepared to match Catholics tempo, be ready to play four quarters, and eliminate mistakes.
Game time is 7 p.m. at Steele Stadium.
