OWENSBORO, Ky. (10/15/13) – Monday night started the 9th District boys’ soccer tournament at Owensboro Catholic High School. The first game was a matchup between the Daviess County Panthers and Apollo Eagles.
Daviess County went into half time with a comfortable lead of 4 – 0. The Panthers continued to score in the second half and completed the shut-out to win 7 – 0. Panthers Head Soccer Coach Doug Sandifer said he liked how his team played in the first half.
“We had nice combinations, which allowed us to get behind them and we got good looks,” he said.
When asked about the district championship game against Catholic, Sandifer said the team has “to do a better job of getting to the balls in the air and get the ball off our foot quicker.”
Daviess County advanced to the 9th District Championship game against Owensboro Catholic. The Panthers won both meetings this year against the Aces, but both games went into overtime. The championship game will take place at Owensboro Catholic on Thursday. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
