pink out 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (10/22/13) – Just like the NFL, the Kids Football League has partnered up with the American Cancer Society for its service project, Pink Out, this Saturday. The playoff games will take place at Kentucky Wesleyan College’s Steele Stadium.

Although this is the first year of the league, it has more than 400 participants. There are two different age groups — second through third grade flag football; and, tackle football for fourth through sixth grades. The KFL also offers cheerleading.

Unlike some leagues, the KFL has a character development component as well as an academic component. The players are asked to take home evaluation sheets for parents and teachers to grade players' actions away from football.

The Pink Out started last weekend with the players, coaches and parents encouraged to wear pink to show awareness for breast cancer. The event continues this week, charging $2 for admissions with $1 going towards the donation. Before the game, parents are asked to provide the names of anyone they know, who has battled the disease.
