LEXINGTON, Ky (10/14/13)—After a pretty tough game on Saturday night against Alabama, the UK Football team is spending a little time recovering but more importantly just trying to get better and finish strong this season.
“Extremely physical football team. We got beat up out there tonight. We need to go back. We need to coach better, we need to play better, and execute the things and control the things we can control,” Head Coach Mark Stoops said, “We’ll get back, clean up the mistakes, and move forward with the second half of our season.”
There were many mistakes that the team and coaching staff made which resulted in the 48-7 loss for the Wildcats. Coach Stoops said that it was a disappointing night for everyone because he wanted to see the team get out there and compete a little harder.
“I give them credit where it is due,” Coach Stoops said, “It is the number one team in the nation, I felt like we were behind from the beginning. I just felt like we were just hanging on.”
Coach Stoops wasn’t upset that they lost, but because he didn’t feel like the team gave it their all at any point in the game.
“We didn’t do our best tonight. That’s why I’m disappointed. When you’re playing the No. 1 team in the country, at least give them your best shot. Go toe to toe, and let the chips fall where they may,” Coach Stoops said.
UK’s next opponent will be Mississippi State on October 24 at Davis Wade Stadium.
