UK Golf 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (10/15/13) – With the first 36 holes in the books, the University of Kentucky men’s golf team sits in 11th place at five-over par, 581, at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic. The tournament played the first two rounds on Monday in which the Wildcats posted a six-over par (294) first round and one-under par (287) second round.
 
South Alabama will enter Tuesday’s final round with a one-stroke lead at 13-under par. South Alabama is followed by South Florida (-12), Georgia State (-11), Chattanooga (-10), Ole Miss (-4) and VCU (-4) in the top five.
 
Through two rounds, the team standings are filled out with Mercer (-2), Georgia Southern (-1), UNC Greensboro (+2), Troy (+4), Furman (+14), South Carolina-Aiken (+18) and Michigan (+21).
 
“We really struggled out of the Bermuda (grass) rough here and were in it too much today,” said Kentucky head coach Brian Craig. “We just need to come out tomorrow and play the best round we can and leave here with our heads held high. This team can play and we will be fine in the end.”
 
The Wildcats were paced by senior Ben Stow and junior David Snyder who go into the final round tied for 27th at even-par (144). Stow registered a one-over par, 73, on the first 18 holes, but followed that up with a one-under par, 71 on the final 18. The Salisbury, England, native was on track to post an excellent second round before a bogey and a double-bogey on two of his final five holes.
 
Snyder put together a solid second round of two-under par, 70, after a two-over par, 74, in the first round. He claimed five birdies in the second round and seven total on the day.
 
Senior Cody Martin sits in a tie for 35th at two-over par, 146. Martin recorded a two-over par, 74, in the first round, followed by a second round score of even-par, 72.
 
Tied for 58th is senior Stephen Powers at five-over par, 149. Powers turned in scorecards of one-over par, 73 and four-over par, 76 on Monday. Rounding out the UK lineup was sophomore Harrison Greenberry, who finished tied for 77th at 10-over par (154). Greenberry struggled in the first round as he posted an eight-over par, 80, but cut six strokes off his score in the second round with a two-over par, 74.
 
Playing as an individual, junior Will Bishop sits in 82nd at 14-over par, 158. Bishop shot rounds of eight-over par, 80, and six-over par, 78.
