DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. — The annual Take Kids Fishing Day is planned for Saturday, May 21 at Riverside Park in Dawson Springs.
Organizers expect up to 300 youths ages 3 to 15 participating in the annual event.
Onsite registration begins at 9 a.m. with fishing taking place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Prize awards will be given from 11:30 a.m. until noon.
The event is organized by the Caldwell County/Dawson Springs/Hopkins/Webster Planning Committee in cooperation with the Pennyrile Resource Conservation and Development Area Council.
The pre-registration fee is $1 per child and adult and $2 for those registering onsite. The fee covers all event costs as well as a light lunch. A limited supply of fishing equipment and bait will be provided by the children, who have the opportunity to fish and win prizes. Children must be accompanied by an adult and there is no fishing license required for the event.
Those children pre-registered and arriving before 10 a.m. May 21, will have a chance to take home a free “Take Kids Fishing” T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded in the age groups 3 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 11 and 12 to 15 including prizes in casting and reeling competition.
Pre-registration sites include the Caldwell County Conservation District, Caldwell County Cooperative Extension Service, Dawson Springs City Hall, Dawson Springs, Public Library, Housing Authority of Dawson Springs, Housing Authority of Princeton, Hopkins County Conservation District, Webster County Conservation District and United Community Bank.
