The Wildcats received the opening kickoff and advanced the ball to their own 42 yard line. On the first offensive play from the line of scrimmage, Logan Rodgers followed fullback Calil McNary in for a 58 yard touchdown. The Wildcats excelled on offense, defeating South Warren 50-14.

Rodgers amassed 427 rushing yards and scored six touchdowns on 10 carries. McNary added 139 yards rushing and scored one touchdown on only four carries. McNary scored on a 41-yard touchdown run down the middle of the field.

Rodgers had his longest touchdown run for the season during the postseason matchup, sprinting 92 yards on his second carry.

The South Hopkins offensive line paved the way throughout the game.

"Again he gives a lot of credit to the offensive line for blocking and creating lanes for these explosive backs to work through," said South Hopkins Coach Chris Manning.

Manning is also very proud of the South Hopkins defense, which stepped up and played well. The South Hopkins defense has only given up four touchdowns all season. South Hopkins opponents have only found the endzone five times in nine games, with one of those touchdowns coming from an offensive turnover.

"This team is just loaded with young men that have learned to love this sport and enjoy playing football next to one another," said Manning.

South Hopkins moved to 9-0 and advanced in the KYMSFA State Playoffs. Talented South Hopkins will face Bowling Green on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Logan County High School. Kickoff for the South Hopkins-Bowling Green football game is set for 1 p.m.

FLASHBACK TO FIRST ROUND: South Hopkins defeated Warren East 32-6 in the opening round of the KYMSFA Playoffs in Bowling Green on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

On the opening kickoff, Warren East took the ball down to the South Hopkins 35 yard line. Six plays later, Warren East found itself facing 4th and 8 on the South Hopkins 13 yard line. The Wildcat defense shut Warren East down at the 10 yard line.

From the 10 yard line, tailback Logan Rodgers, following fullback Calil McNary and the well-coached offensive line, rushed 90 yards for South Hopkins' first touchdown.

Continuing to dominate, South Hopkins packed a 20-0 lead into halftime.

After intermission, South Hopkins received the football and started to march down the field. Five plays later, with the ball sitting on the Raiders' 35 yard line, South Hopkins quarterback Austin Fritz connected with McNary for a 35 yard pass for a Wildcat touchdown. The aerial strike allowed South Hopkins to move ahead 26-0.

Later in the same quarter, South Hopkins punched in its final touchdown to move ahead 32-0.

Rodgers rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns in South Hopkins' win.

McNary rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown and hauled a 35-yard scoring reception.

But it all started up front for the Wildcats.

“The offensive line is the playing really good thus far," said South Hopkins Coach Chris Manning. "They are really opening up holes and allowing our back to get to the second level, where the backs can do their work. I am very proud of our linemen and Coach Arnett’s work with them.”

The South Hopkins offensive line is made up of Tyrone Hopson, Justin Randolph, James Posey, and two sixth graders, Hayden Crick and Carlos Mason.

Defensively, Parker Grace delivered five tackles and two sacks for the Wildcats.

The South Hopkins defense consists of Rodgers, McNary, Grace, Kaden Martin, James Posey, Reese Belt,  Rushawn Allender, Presley Suttle, Jaylen Kimbrew, Matthew Reeves and Austin Fritz. Tyrone Hopson, Colton Dismang and sixth graders Issac Manning and Kamran Harrison also contribute defensively for the Wildcats.
