cautionWESTERN Ky. (2/12/18) — Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews have been on the roads overnight in Webster, Mclean, Daviess, Ohio and Christian counties, KYTC Spokesman Keith Todd reported.

While most of the crews were treating bridges, overpasses, and potential trouble spots, several of the counties were treating on a wider basis, Todd said.

State officials reported road crews were called in as several lines of freezing rain and drizzle moved through the region just before midnight. Pavement temperatures held near the freezing mark helping to prevent more widespread issues from the wintry mix.

Todd urges drivers  to use caution on the morning commute. Ambient air temperatures range from the low 20s-mid 20s across the region. That makes it likely that any remaining moisture on highway surfaces will freeze creating the opportunity for slick spots, especially on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.
