HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — Tomorrow’s rescheduled Hopkinsville Earth Day/Healthy Kid’s Day Celebration at DeBow Park has been canceled due to additional rain on already saturated park facilities.
This Saturday’s event was a rain makeup from last Saturday’s original date. No additional rescheduled event is planned. The determination on the status of YMCA league soccer games at DeBow Park will be made early tomorrow morning, as is normal policy.
“Our team of event presenters are disappointed, but we always put the safety of event attendees first,” said Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Tab Brockman. “Forecasters are calling for more rain today and overnight on DeBow Park’s already saturated facilities making this is the prudent call given info we have at this time. More rain would make for sloppy and potential unsafe conditions for Earth Day/Healthy Kid’s Day. There are many parts of the event that need a day’s notice for cancellation.”
The Hopkinsville Earth Day/Healthy Kid’s Day Celebration is presented by the Hopkinsville YMCA, the UK Extension Office, Hopkinsville Electric System and Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation, in conjunction with a host of outstanding event sponsors.
