CC 5 18PEMBROKE, Ky. (5/18/17) — Authorities in Christian County looked into a complaint about illegal drug sales at a West Nashville Street vacant home in Pembroke Wednesday afternoon.

Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force Director David Thompson reported task force detectives along with Christian County Sheriff’s Office deputies saw a car with out-of-county plates pull into the driveway of the home and a person approaching the vehicle briefly, and walking away.

After the driver left the neighborhood, officers stopped the vehicle due to suspicious behavior, according to PNTF. Detectives smelled a strong odor of herb upon approaching the car.

Jayson C. Stewart, 22 of Guthrie, told detectives that he “just purchased an ounce of marijuana,” according to the report. Stewart also had a 16-year-old passenger along for the ride.

The driver was charged with possession of marijuana and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Stewart was listed as being held in Christian County Jail this afternoon on $5,000 cash bond.

Thompson anticipates additional arrests.
