maroons soccerballMADISONVILLE, Ky. (10/3/17) — Madisonville-North Hopkins couldn't keep up with visiting University Heights in a non-district girls' high school soccer game on Monday. University Heights, a rival from the neighboring 8th Region, moved ahead early and pulled away to defeat Madisonville-North Hopkins 8-1.

With the loss, Madisonville-North Hopkins dropped to 8-5-4.

University Heights, the current 2nd Region frontrunner, improved to 12-3-0 with the win.

Kate Cansler and Lilly Strader led University Heights to the win, scoring three goals apiece.

Accompanying Cansler and Strader in the University Heights scoring column, Emerson Barlow and Alli Cundiff netted one goal apiece.

Cansler, Strader and Cundiff distributed one assist apiece for the Lady Blazers in the victory.

Defensively for University Heights, goalkeeper Lainey Burman limited Madisonville-North Hopkins to only one goal.

University Heights led 6-0 before Madisonville-North Hopkins scored. Sara Holland Bachman netted the Lady Maroons' lone goal in the non-district contest.

Madisonville-North Hopkins is slated to host Trigg County in another non-district girls' soccer game on Thursday.
