apollo eagles logo 2015OWENSBORO, Ky. (12/13/17) — Host Apollo pulled away to beat Butler County 78-53 in an early-season boys' high school basketball game on Tuesday night.

With the win, Apollo improved to 3-2.

Butler County dropped to 4-3 with the loss.

Apollo shot 50 percent (33-of-66) from the field. The Eagles were 4-of-13 (30.8 percent) from 3-point range.

Apollo shot 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from the free throw line.

Four Apollo players reached double figures in the scoring column. Nathan Boyle paced Apollo with 17 points.

Accompanying Boyle in double figures for the Eagles, Angel Saldana netted 16 points, Alex Gray added 13 points and Hayden Shelton chipped in 12 points.

Zach Greer narrowly missed reaching double figures for the Eagles, scoring nine points.

James Graham posted  six points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for the Eagles in the convincing victory.

Apollo and Butler County met for their only regularly-scheduled matchup against each other in the 2017-18 season.
