Owensboro Catholic logo 325OWENSBORO, Ky. (1/12/18) — Owensboro Catholic swept Trinity (Whitesville) in opening round games in the boys' and girls' 3rd Region All "A" Classics at the Sportscenter on Thursday night.

Girls - Owensboro Catholic 77, Trinity (Whitesville) 28: Ellie Mitchell scored the 1,000th point of her career and tossed in a game-high 17 points to lead Owensboro Catholic over Trinity (Whitesville) 77-28 in the opening round of the 3rd Region All "A" Classic at the Sportscenter on Thursday night.

With the win, Owensboro Catholic improved to 13-4 and advances in 3rd Region All "A" Classic.

Trinity dropped to 8-7 and was eliminated from the regional small-school tournament with the loss.

Mcackenzie Keelin netted 14 points, Sarah Beth Clemens chipped in 13 points and Ally Maggard added 10 points for the Lady Aces.

Owensboro Catholic shot 50.8 percent from the field.

The Lady Aces led 44-17 at halftime and outscored Trinity 21-5 in the third quarter.

Cassidy Morris paced Trinity with 12 points.

 

Boys - Owensboro Catholic 63, Trinity (Whitesville) 38: The Owensboro Catholic Aces gradually pulled away to defeat the Trinity (Whitesville) Raiders 63-38 in the opening round of the 3rd Region All "A" Classic at the Sportscenter on Thursday nght.

With the win, Owensboro Catholic improved to 10-6 and advanced in the 3rd Region All "A" Classic.

Trinity slipped to 11-10 and was eliminated from the regional small-school tournament with the loss.

Owensboro Catholic overcame a slow start that included Trinity lead 12-7 at the conclusion of the first quarter.

After heating up offensively, Owensboro Catholic used a 25-7 run in the second quarter to lead 32-19 at halftime and remained ahead throughout the second half.

Bailey Ballard led Owensboro Catholic with 13 points.

Hayden Riney accompanied Ballard in double figures for the Aces, adding 11 points.

Cameron Wright paced Trinity with 14 points.
