Apollo E GalsHARNED, Ky. (1/22/18) — Apollo fell short in a bid to knock off host Breckinridge County over the weekend. Breckinridge County held on to edge Apollo 49-47 in a girls' high school basketball game on Saturday.

With the loss, Apollo slipped to 8-9.

Breckinridge County improved to 10-6 with the win.

Isabel Grimes led Breckinridge County with a game-high 20 points. Grimes was the only Breckinridge County player to reach double figures in the scoring column.

Narrowly missing double figures, Aleigha Mucker contributed nine points for the Lady Tigers.

Familiar foes, Apollo and Breckinridge County swapped leads throughout the first half. The two teams were tied 19-19 at halftime.

Visiting Apollo packed a 32-29 lead out of the third quarter but couldn't convert enough on its offensive end in the final quarter to claim a win.

Amber Dunn paced Apollo with 14 points. Three Apollo players reached double figures in the scoring column as Mycah Lindsey netted 12 points and Keisha Mattingly contributed 10 points.
