(2/11/18) — Visiting Owensboro Catholic faced a double digit deficit at the conclusion of the opening quarter and could't recover from its slow start as reigning All "A" Classic champion Murray pulled away to win 91-73 in the Independence Bank Valentine's Shootout on Saturday.

With the loss, Owensboro Catholic dropped to 19-7.

Murray improved to 26-2 with the win.

Thriving beyond the arc, Murray was 16-of-30 (53.3 percent) from 3-point range.

Alexis Burpo led a balanced Murray scoring attack with 21 points. Following Burpo in double figures for the Lady Tigers, Alexandria Mayes and Macey Turley contributed 19 points apiece.

Murray led 21-10 at the end of the first quarter and carried a commanding 43-24 lead into halftime.

Sarah Beth Clemens led Owensboro Catholic with a game-high 27 points. MacKenzie Keelin scored 17 points, Ellie Mitchell added 13 points and Hannah McKay finished with 12 points for the Lady Aces.

McKay ranked as Owensboro Catholic's leading rebounder, grabbing seven rebounds in the setback.
