Girls Sweet 16HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (3/9/18) — Owensboro Catholic's postseason run ended with heartbreak in the Girls' Sweet 16 Quarterfinals. Defending state champion Mercer County held on to edge the Lady Aces 67-66 in the Girls' Sweet 16 Quarterfinals at Northern Kentucky University's BB&T Arena on Friday.

With the loss, Owensboro Catholic ended its season 27-8.

Mercer County improved to 34-3 and advanced to the state tournament semifinals with the win.

The Lady Aces battled back to push for the victory after facing a 17-point deficit late in the second quarter.

Hannah McKay led Owensboro Catholic with 24 points and nine rebounds, nearly notching a double-double. McKay led all players in both scoring and rebounding.

Sarah Beth Clemens accompanied McKay in double figures for the Lady Aces, scoring 18 points.
