OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/9/18) — A water main leak has flooded the 2000 block of East 4th Street and the entire area should be avoided, according to Owensboro Police Department.

The area between Birkhead Avenue and Leitchfield Road on East 4th Street and East 2nd Street including Wing Avenue have been cordoned off due to the break.

OPD is blocking traffic and helping Owensboro Street Department put up barricades.

There is a boil water order for all OMU customers including Southeast, East and West districts as well as Whitesville Water Works. OMU is asking for customers to conserve water.

Due to pressure loss, much of the community is without water, however, crews are working to restore it. OMU does not yet have an estimate on repairs.
