Fire 12 29

UPDATE: REED, Ky. (1/1/18) — Henderson County authorities have released the name of the Reed man found dead inside a burning home Friday.

Henderson County Coroner Bruce Farmer reported the victim was Ben Grogan, 76 of Reed. Farmer said the preliminary cause of death was smoke inhalation.

Reed, Spottsville and Zion volunteer fire departments along with Henderson City/County Rescue Squad responded to the blaze at Grogan's home in the 8,000 block of Cheatham Road in Reed.

Henderson County Sheriffs Office initially reported a deputy was called to check on the man’s welfare after Grogan did not answer the door for friends. After authorities visited the home, light smoke was seen emitting from windows and eves.

Deputies quickly made entry into the home to find Grogan on the floor, authorities said. The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.
