SnowyRoad 300HENDERSON, Ky. (1/12/18) — Henderson Police Department reported two accidents have occurred along the icy, snow-covered city streets since the rain overnight changed to wintry precipitation early this morning.

The National Weather Service in Paducah issued a winter storm warning for the area that expires 9 tonight.

HPD Spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Richmond said police investigated the traffic incidents between 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and have assisted numerous travelers along roads today.

“Snow drifts on local roads are causing traffic difficulties,” Richmond said in a statement. “Please slow down as you travel, maintain extra distance between vehicles, and remember that four-wheel drive vehicles can slide on the ice just as easily as (other) vehicles.
