HENDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (3/16/18) — A Community EGGstravaganza is set for 1-3 p.m. March 24 at Henderson County Fairgrounds.

Organizers said the event is not a typical Easter egg hunt, but also a free Summer Reading Program Pre-Show, hosted in conjunction with the Henderson Early Childhood Council, Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center, Henderson County Public Library, Spottsville Community Fire Department, HendersonWatch and Henderson County Parks and Programs.

This fun event will include more than 10,000 eggs, music, prizes, popcorn and drinks, Henderson County Administrator Mitzi Weber announced.

“We have followed the lead of other community organizations, and changed how the egg hunt is done,” Weber said in a statement.

Children will enjoy the egg hunt and turn in their eggs to receive candy and a coloring packet to ensure that each child walks away with candy, organizers said. Select eggs will contain prizes.

Each age group will go in timed intervals in order for all parents to have an opportunity to watch children that may be in separate hunting areas.

Listed below is a schedule of events:

• 1 p.m. — Opening
• 1:15 p.m. — Reading and Children’s presentation from the Thelma B Johnson Early Learning Center and the Early Childhood Council
• 1:25 — Instructions for Egg Hunt – Adults not allowed on fields with children more than two years old.
• 1:30 — Egg Hunt ages 0-2 years
• 1:45 — Egg Hunt ages 3-5 years
• 2:00 — Egg Hunt ages 6-10 years
• 2:15 — Egg Hunt ages 11 and older
• Prizes will be redeemed at the stage
