Howard HHENDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (10/15/19) — A Sturgis woman was charged with promoting contraband following her arrest during a traffic stop in Henderson.

Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force Director David Thompson reported detectives followed up with the investigation Friday evening in conjunction with Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies and deputy jailers at Henderson County Jail.

During the initial arrest of Holly R. Howard, 31, on the east end, PNTF reports officers believe she was in Henderson to get more drugs from her supplier. Howard and her vehicle were searched. Detectives reported finding a capped syringe in her hand that contained possible methamphetamine.

Later in the evening, detectives reported receiving additional information that Howard could possibly still be in possession of meth while in the county jail, which prompted jailers to request an x-ray through a search warrant issued.

She was taken to Methodist Hospital for further examination as a safety precaution, according to PNTF. During preparation to transport, a wet, plastic baggie was found in Howard’s clothing that contained a white crystal substance, which tested positive as meth. More was recovered in a water cup on the floor, where Howard was seated.

Howard was charged with two counts of first-degree possession of meth-second offense in addition to first-degree promoting contraband, tampering with physical evidence and felony probation violation.
