• A Character Breakfast hosted by Madisonville North Hopkins High School Key Club is 9-11 a.m. today, Hopkins County Career and Tech Center, 1775 Patriot Drive, Madisonville.

• Book It! 5K run and 1-mile Fun Walk starts 9 a.m. today at Baptist Health Madisonville. The school with the most participants will receive an award and all participants will receive a free book for individuals who preregistered at https://tinyurl.com/BookIt5K2018, and registration will also take place on race day.

• Western Kentucky Community Health Partner Coalition will be hosting a free family health fair with health screenings and educational booths 10 a.m.-1 p.m., today at Parkway Plaza Mall, Madisonville.

• Journey Quartet will perform 7 p.m. today at New Good Hope Church, 390 Good Hope Road, Mannington.

• A presentation on "What Landowners can do for Wildlife" with biologist Thomas Young III will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Mahr Park. The presentation is part of the 2018 Mahr Park Living Legacy Learning Series.

• Hopkins County AARP Chapter meets 1 p.m. Monday at the Country Cupboard, McCoy Ave., Madisonville.

• Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library Director Joel Meador will review the book, "Trapped! The Story of Floyd Collins" at noon Tuesday at the library, 425 E. Center St. The presentation is part of the Friends of the Library's Brown Bag Book Club, where participants are asked to bring a lunch and read with the leader. • Baptist Health Madisonville will host a blood drive 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Lone Star Church, 2821 Anton Road in Madisonville.

• Grapevine Elementary School Advisory Council meets 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the school.

• Heritage Christian Academy-Madisonville Campus will be hosting a “New Family Open House” 5 p.m. Tuesday to enroll students for the 2018-19 school year for preschool through high school at Heritage Christian Academy-Madisonville Campus, 2135 North Main St., Madisonville.

• The Incredible Colon Exhibit will on display 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday in the Jack L. Hamman Heart and Vascular Center Lobby of Baptist Health Madisonville, 900 Hospital Drive, Madisonville.

• I-69 Alliance meets 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Brown Badgett building at Madisonville Community College main campus, College Drive, Madisonville.

• A community course on "Childcare Provider Training - Creating an Effective Study for Maximum Learning" will be held 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Madisonville Community College. Registration is $18 and can be made by calling Workforce Solutions at 270-824-8658 or 270-824-8659.

• Pennyroyal Master Gardeners are seeking vendors to sell plants, lawn and garden items, tools, garden art and crafts at the annual Lawn and Garden Fair, which will be held April 28. • Kentucky Inn Station will host 1 Million Cups, a free program to engage, educate and connect local entrepreneurs, with the goal to build a strong start-up community over a cup of coffee and a conversation beginning at 7:30 a.m. the first Wednesday each month at Kentucky Innovation Station, 38 W. Arch St., Madisonville.

• Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library will host a Children’s Book Club the last Tuesday of each month beginning Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. for children who love. to read and tell others about what they have read. For information contact Ashley at 270-825-2680. 

• An In-Person Assister (for insurance questions and enrollment) is at the PACS Assistance Center each Wednesday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., 130 Branch St., Madisonville. For an appointment call 270-821-8114 or 800-264-0643 walk-ins welcome.

• PACS is now able to offer more seniors in need of services in their homes. Services include home-delivered meals, homemaking services, personal care and respite. For qualifications and information, call 866-844-4396.

• A free meal is available every Wednesday night and on the second, third, and fourth Friday nights of every month at the Damascus Road House youth center 10 Nortonville Rd. Nortonville, Ky. Meals are for ages 2-18 and the meal time is from 5:30-6:45 each evening.

• Browning Springs Site-Based Decision Making Council will meet at 3:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month in the school's media center. 

• Pride Elementary Site-Based Council meets 3:30 p.m. each second Monday at the school.

• West Hopkins SBDM will meet at 3 p.m. the last Monday of each month in the WHS SBDM room, West Hopkins School.

• Earlington Elementary School Site-Based Decision-Making Council meets at 4:15 p.m., on the second Monday of the month at the school. Meetings move to the following Monday if there is no school that day.

• Hanson City Commission meets the last Tuesday each month at 6 p.m., Hanson City Hall, 30 Sunset Road, Hanson.

• Hope2All Food Bank is open every Tuesday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Food boxes are given out, 92 N. Main Street, Nortonville.

• Damascus Road House, 10 Nortonville Rd., Nortonville is open from 6-9 p.m. the second, third and fourth Friday each month. The Road House is a non-profit, non-denominational organization, open to area church youth groups and those ages 12-19.

• Hopkins County Bass Club meets the second Thursday each month at 6:30 p.m., Brothers BBQ, 1055 N. Main St., Madisonville.

• Hopkins County Senior Citizens Center hosts its regular monthly meeting of the Hopkins/Muhlenberg Elder Abuse Council at 9 a.m. the first Tuesday every month at the HC Senior Citizens Center, North Main St., Madisonville.

• Dance the Night Away at Pam’s Dance Barn, 35 Cedar Lane, Madisonville is every Saturday, 7-10 p.m. For information, call 270-836-4649.

• Hopkins County AARP meets the second Monday each month for a noon lunch at the Country Cupboard with a program at 1 p.m.

• Hopkins County Genealogy Society meets at the Judicial Center (old Post Office), 56 N. Main St., Madisonville, on the fourth Tuesday each month at 7 p.m.

• Nebo City Commission will meet the first Monday each month, unless a holiday, then the following Monday, 6 p.m. at the former Nebo School/Community Center.

• Madisonville Noon Kiwanis meets at noon every Friday, First United Methodist Church, Center Street, Madisonville.

• Calvary Temple Community is "Feeding the Hungry" every Sunday morning. Free breakfast is served from 9-9:30 a.m.

• Hopkins County Business and Professional Women's Club meets 6 p.m. the first Tuesday every month at Oak Ridge Retirement Center, 750 Dodson Lane in Madisonville.
