PenPkwyRehabChristianHopkins031918HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (3/13/18) — A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to initiate prep work for a concrete rehabilitation project along the Edward Breathitt-Pennyrille Parkway in Christian and Hopkins Counties that begins Monday.

KYTC Spokesman Keith Todd reported the concrete pavement rehabilitation project along the Pennyrile Parkway runs from about a mile north of the Kentucky 2642 overpass starting at mile-marker 16.556 and extending north near the U.S. 41 ramp overpass at mile-marker 29.9, a distance of 13.344 miles.

Initial work will involve construction of crossovers to allow the contractor to move to two-way traffic along about a 6-mile section of the work zone starting sometime next month. The work zone will be divided into about 6 phases over about 18 months, Todd said.

Highway officials remind drivers that caution is required where equipment, flaggers and other personnel are present in work zones.

Hall Contracting of Kentucky Inc. is the prime contractor on this $43.2 million rehab project. This project has a target completion date of Aug. 31, 2019.
