BerryMADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/19/18) — A local industry is expanding its operations in Madisonville with plans to hire 79 additional workers.

Berry Plastics, parent company of Fortune 500 Berry Global Inc. headquartered in Evansville, Indiana, announced a $40-50 million expansion in new equipment and upgrades at the Madisonville manufacturing facility off Industrial Park Drive. The Berry Plastics Group reopened the location in 2013 with a target employment of 400.

Company officials revealed the expansion involves a new product line for plastic packaging production. The manufacturer reports it has more than 100 facilities worldwide, employing 23,000. The company reported $7.1 billion in revenue last year.

“We are very pleased to be expanding production at our Madisonville facility," Berry Global CEO/Chairman Tom Salmon said in a statement. "We would like to thank officials from Madisonville and Hopkins County for their ongoing support of our growth initiatives.”

Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corp. President Ray Hagerman said at a Madisonville City Council meeting today that the company would likely add even more jobs in the future.

“We are very excited that Madisonville was selected among other communities for this new Berry investment,” Hagerman said.. “These are excellent jobs for our community.”

Hopkins County Judge-Executive Donald Carroll stated that Berry adds strength to the Hopkins County workforce.

Mayor David Jackson also noted the company’s investment “shows a significant commitment” to the area as well as confidence in the local workforce.

Berry Global is already looking to fill the new positions at the local facility that includes entry-level manufacturing and skilled trade positions. Those interested can apply online at http://www.berryglobal.com/careers.
