UPDATE: MADISONVILLE, Ky. (1/16/19) — Two female juveniles have been taken into custody and charged in relation to a bomb threat investigation at Browning Springs Middle School today.

Madisonville Police Department reported MPD school resource officers were made aware of the bomb threat at 10:26 a.m.

MPD detectives determined the threat received by school officials was a “hoax."

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (1/16/19) — Madisonville Police Department is investigating an alleged threat made this morning toward a middle school, located off West Center Street.

First responders were called to the scene at Browning Springs Middle School. Lockdown drills have been ongoing at Hopkins County Schools over the past few days. Hopkins County Schools confirmed today's threat was not a drill.

Officials did not indicate what the treat involved. A concerned parent indicated it was a bomb threat.

MPD reported emergency personnel quickly responded to the call, which was around 11 a.m., and protocol followed. City fire and police vehicles were seen surrounding the school, and students were removed from classrooms. After a search, the building was deemed safe.

Police said all threats are taken seriously, and they are seeking individuals responsible regarding the matter.

Students returned to class before noon today, officials said.
