Bridge 10 18WHITE PLAINS, Ky. (10/19/19) — A culvert crossing off Church Street in White Plains has reopened this week.

It has been closed for repairs after a large hole developed along the passage over the rainy summer, causing an inconvenience to residents who live at the end of the street.

Ricky Whitaker of Whitco Bros. in White Plains said a special tile had to be ordered, which took three weeks to be delivered. The workers were busy leveling off the tile and placing gravel, saying it would be paved in the spring.

The discretionary funds were provided by the state, officials said, which were recently awarded as part of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet initiative to improve infrastructure through an application process.

White Plains residents were passing over the culvert this week for the first time in a while. Darren Whitaker said he wanted to be the first person to driver over it.
