walker 1GREENVILLE, Ky. (3/10/18) — Fans of Muhlenberg County native, award-winning flutist Jim Walker were treated to a world-class concert last night at Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall.

Walker, who was raised in Greenville and graduated from Central City High School, is a University of Louisville graduate that has had a long career in music. Walker now works in southern California on various movie soundtracks and also performs around the world.

Walker is perhaps most famous for his flute music on movies like “Titanic”, “Memoirs of a Geisha”, “Amistad”, “Ice Age”, “Seven Years in Tibet”, “Monsters, Inc.”, “Two If By Sea”, “The River”, “A River Runs Through It”, “Nijinsky” and “Far & Away”.

Two highlights of Friday night’s concert at FEMJH at the Muhlenberg County High School West Campus included a movie soundtrack medley by Walker and a four-handed piano jam by accompanist Bryan Pezzone and Ryan Jones.

Judge-Executive Rick Newman presented Walker with an Outstanding Citizen Award after the concert intermission.

"It's an honor to be back home playing for you,” said Walker. “I never realized when I was growing up that Muhlenberg County would have a venue like this — Felix Martin Hall."

Walker has another concert tonight at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts in Madisonville. Today, is Walker's birthday.
