DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (5/22/15) — Amanda Jerome has been named College and Career Readiness Coordinator for the Daviess County Public Schools district, replacing Marcia Carpenter, who is retiring at the conclusion of the 2014-15 school year.

Amanda JeromeThe goal of the position is to assist DCPS students in successfully transitioning to adult life by ensuring that students are exposed to opportunities in grades preschool through 12 designed to foster the development of college and career readiness skills. In this position, Jerome will work with the district's director of student services, guidance counselors and college/career readiness coaches, as well as post-secondary, community and business partners.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help all DCPS students develop and execute a plan for college and career success," Jerome said. "I find the possibility of assisting all students with college and career planning, exciting, and hope to expose them to the numerous opportunities that are available within our community and state. I am looking to expand our Community Campus program, host district-wide College and Career Fairs for all students and their parents to attend, and continue to develop college and career awareness with our elementary and middle school students."

Jerome began her education career in January 2001 as an English and drama instructor at Apollo High School and was named guidance counselor at AHS in 2009. In this position, she worked closely with students to prepare them for a successful transition to college, the workplace and adult life.

She attended Owensboro Community and Technical College and has a bachelor of arts degree in English allied language arts from Western Kentucky University (2000) and earned a master of arts degree in school counseling with K-12 certification in 2007.
